XINGTAI, China, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- A group of seemingly levitating vehicles caught on camera at a Chinese intersection were actually snagged by a fallen cable wire, one driver said.

The CCTV footage taken last week at an intersections in Xingtai, Hebei province, shows three cars appear to lift into the air for a few seconds before crashing down to earth.

The video sparked online speculation about what sort of phenomenon could cause the cars to float in the air, but the driver of one vehicle revealed the actual cause was a fallen cable that became entangled in a street cleaner's mechanism and lifted the cars into the air.

"I was driving slowly straight ahead," CNN quoted the van driver as saying. "All of a sudden, I was lifted up. The street cleaner car snagged on the wire. The wire just so happened to be underneath our car and it sent us flying."
