The gator snuck up while UF student Michael Tamayo and a friend were having a picnic at Lake Alice on the university's campus. A third student, Richard Reed Jr., captured the video as Tamayo turned away from his blanket to take a photo of Reed and his wife. UF researcher Kent A. Vilet told WUFT that gators in the area have come searching for snacks before, as a nearly identical situation happened almost two years ago. After capturing the video the students managed to send the gator away safely.
