WASHINGTON, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- A night of fine-dining ended up costing Washington Redskins defensive rookies over $22,000 after they were fronted the bill by veteran players of the team.

The final tally of $22,159.04 including an almost $3,000 tip, was added up at Mastro's restaurant after players ordered everything from lobster tails, herb roasted chicken and truffle butter to expensive scotch, Macallan 25.

"It was excellent," Redskins defensive lineman Chris Baker said. "Gotta eat good, especially when it's not on your dime."

The Redskins veterans took to social media to document the expensive night out thanking the rookies for the dinner along with pictures of the bill. Defensive tackle Terrance Knighton started the hashtag #rookiedinner and tweeted a selfie with Baker while thanking rookie Preston Smith followed by multiple dollar signs.

Rookies Smith, Kyshoen Jarrett, Deshazor Everett and practice squad defensive end Corey Crawford split the bill according to the Washington Post.

"I kind of had an expectation of what to expect and what I was going to see," Smith said. "It's kind of like my mind was at ease when I saw it. It wasn't as bad as I thought it may have been."
