DETROIT, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Police in Detroit confirmed a tiger was on the loose in a disused plant on the east side of the city and it has now been recaptured.

Detroit police said the tiger escaped from a British film crew Monday while they were shooting footage inside the old Packard Plant and the crew was unable to recapture the big cat.

Representatives of the plant's owners said the film crew had permission to shoot inside the building, but not to bring wild animals. They said the crew brought the tiger along with a bobcat and a wolf without informing officials.

Andy Didorosi said in a series of Facebook posts he was summoned to the plant to assist with the tiger's capture.

A video shared by Didorosi shows a man attempting to scare the tiger into going down a flight of stairs to be recaptured.

"This feels like the dumbest thing we've ever done," one of the men says in the footage.

The man is seen running at the tiger with a tarp and a weed whacker with various attachments in an attempt to get the tiger to vacate a landing on the stairs and go to where other people are waiting to capture it.

The tiger is unfazed by the tarp and appears annoyed by the weed whacker, batting a paw at the tool. Packard Plant security confirmed the tiger was safely recaptured early Monday afternoon.

"Remember, no talking near the tiger." Or: When your friend calls and says he needs help getting a tiger out of a staircase, you listen. (I just happened to be the closest dumb person to the scene. The real crime here is that I used vertical video, apologies to the world.) #tigerwatch15 #tigerwatch2015
