The video, taken by a bus' external CCTV camera, shows a man and woman get off the bus next to a construction site in the Yongsan area of Seoul and quickly fall through the ground as it gives way beneath their feet. Cho Seong-ha of the Korean Geotechnical Society said the group is working with the city of Seoul to determine the cause of the sinkhole. "Looking at the actual sinkhole site, the key point is that water is coming out of the retaining wall," Seong-ha said. "However, it is still not known whether this was the immediate cause of the ground sinking. We are planning to analyze the possibility through investigation. We are also planning to figure out other causes for the sinking by looking at various construction records and by investigating the site."
