The breakfast contains 8,000 calories, well over the 2,000-2,400 daily calories recommended by the U.S. Department of Agriculture for a person aged 19-30.

Workers said five people have attempted the $22.64 breakfast "challenge," but none have been able to finish it in the allotted hour.

Manager Lucy Butler said any customers who manage to finish the breakfast -- participants must be over the age of 18 and have to stop if they get ill -- will get their picture on a "champions" wall and will receive a mega breakfast voucher, a mini trophy and a keyring.

"The idea came about from watching Man V Food. Me and my sister thought we had to do it," Butler told the Plymouth Herald. "If we we were to do it, we thought, why not try to make it the biggest in Britain? We don't make any money off of it. It's just a bit of fun. We are quite a happy cafe and it just came about as fun -- nothing else."
