DRUMOAK, Scotland, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- CCTV cameras set up at a Scottish castle captured an image of a "strange mist" taken by some as evidence of the building's haunted reputation, staff said.

Staff at 700-year-old Drum Castle in Aberdeenshire said motion-detector cameras set up by the National Trust for Scotland's wildlife team to observe a family of swallows during the summer captured the image of a "strange mist" with nothing else apparent in the picture to have set off the motion detector.

National Trust staff questioned whether the picture shows a "ghost" purported to be haunting the facility.

"Everyone tells me that Drum Castle is a haunted place and that there are strange happenings here," said Alison Burke, the National Trust for Scotland's property manager for Drum Castle. "I have always been highly skeptical but there have been too many inexplicable events that cannot be ignored."

"I have to admit, when I checked the camera and found this image a cold shiver ran down my spine," Burke said.

Previous strange goings-on at the castle include alleged sightings of the ghost of Anna Forbes, wife of the 20th Laird, the National Trust said.
