Council refers paranormal requests to 'Ghostbusters'

Essex Council responded to a Freedom of Information Act request by recommending the filer direct questions about the paranormal to "Ghostbusters" or "X-Files" agents.

CHELMSFORD, England, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- A local government in England referred a Freedom of Information request filer to the "Ghostbusters" and "Mulder and Scully."

Essex County Council's reply to the anonymous request, which asked for details of paranormal activity in the area during the past decade, was published on the council's website and referred the filer to "external service providers."

"For all investigations concerning paranormal activity please contact 555-2368 Ghostbusters and ask to speak with Dr. Venkman, Dr. Stantz or Dr. Spengler," the response read, referencing the characters portrayed by Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis in the in 1994 film.

The council referred requests for information about UFO activity to "Fox Mulder or Dana Scully who have been seconded from the FBI to Essex County Council X-Files project," referencing 1990s Fox TV series "The X-Files."

The filing also referred requests for information about zombies and "viral pandemics" to characters from films "Shaun of the Dead" and "28 Days Later."
