In order to mark the occasion, a 10-foot RoboCop statue will appear in public for the first time and the cyborg crime fighter will also throw out the first pitch at the Detroit Tigers game against the Toronto Blue Jays at Comerica Park. The campaign started three years ago when someone tweeted to Detroit Mayor Dave Bing that, "Philadelphia has a statue of Rocky & RoboCop would kick Rocky's butt. He's a GREAT ambassador for Detroit." Bing answered by saying, "There are not any plans to erect a statue to Robocop. Thank you for the suggestion," MLive reported.
