ECCLES, England, March 19 (UPI) -- A group of seven men using the restroom at a British nightclub evaded serious injury when the floor gave out beneath them.

Mark Cowgill, 29, one of the seven men using the restroom at Hell Polish Club in Eccles, England, about 1:30 a.m. Saturday said he and the others were shocked when the floor gave out and they fell to the building's cellar, the Mirror reported Wednesday.

"I was just washing my hands when we heard a creak. Everyone sort of stopped and looked at each other -- and it just gave way," Cowgill said. "It was quite surreal -- it was like something out of a film to be honest."

"I ended up in a heap in the cellar. We were all in shock just looking at each other. It was frightening," he said.

The North West Ambulance Service confirmed four of the men were hospitalized with minor injuries.

A Salford Council spokesman said a water leak was found in the building that may have contributed to the collapse.

"I'm so glad it was just the cellar we fell into where they were just storing their alcohol," Cowgill said. "If it had been a public area it could have been a lot worse. There could have been deaths."
