MCMINNVILLE, Ore., Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Ten firefighters, a man and two teenagers lifted a 700-pound cow out of an in-ground pool in McMinnville, Ore., fire officials said.

Homeowner Jeff Dyck called the fire department when his cow fell into his pool Friday, the (Portland) Oregonian reported.

Dyck coaxed the cow to the pool's shallow end and placed a wooden ramp into the pool before the firefighters arrived.

The firefighters then put straps around the animal's body, and Dyck lured him up the ramp with a bucket of oats.

But when the cow slipped and fell on its side, the firefighters, Dyck and two teenagers had to turn the cow upright and lift it out of the pool.

Fire Chief Rich Leipfert said the cow was safe in the barn 4 minutes later.

Dyck told the Oregonian that he did not know how the cow got into the pool.
