Utah town forgets to hold elections again

WALLSBURG, Utah, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Officials in a Utah town said an elections official forgot to schedule voting for mayor and city council -- repeating the same mistake made by his predecessor.

Wasatch County Clerk Brent Titcomb said the recently hired recorder in the town of Wallsburg did not realize until shortly before Nov. 5, the date of municipal elections across the state, that the start of the filing period was never announced and no elections were scheduled in the town of 275, The Salt Lake Tribune reported Thursday.

"Wallsburg never advertised or prepared for an election this year, so no one signed up," Titcomb said. "They're going to have to appoint the current mayor and council for two more years and they'll advertise and have people elected [in 2015]."
