Friday's effort involved at least 12,000 volunteers. Miles rescued a woman from cable-car tracks and arrested the Riddler, both feats watched by cheering crowds. Enthusiasm for Batkid spread outside San Francisco. Messages came from members of Congress and from President Obama. "Way to go, Miles. Way to save Gotham," the president said in a short video.
