Fictional grave found at cemetery in Oslo

OSLO, Norway, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- A grave for a fictional character created by Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen popped up mysteriously at a cemetery in Oslo, a cemetery worker said.

A white cross inscribed "Ejlert Lovborg (1857-1890)," a character from Ibsen's play "Hedda Gabler," was discovered at the Var Frelsers cemetery close to where Ibsen himself is buried, The Local.no reported Friday.

In the play, Lovborg is a tragic character who commits suicide after Gabler fails to tell him that a manuscript he wrote and then lost when drunk had been recovered.

Jan Taraldsen, who manages the cemetery, said that he doesn't know who put the cross up and that he plans on removing it.

"This is the first time I've seen something like this," Taraldsen said. "It was a bit special."
