Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe KEY LARGO, Fla., Sept. 7 (UPI) -- A Florida man faces criminal charges for allegedly making a false report of a burglary at his home after breaking up with his live-in girlfriend, police said. The Monroe County Sheriff's Department says Shane Everett Earp, 40, of Key Largo, has been charged with misuse of the 911 system, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported Saturday. Advertisement Earp allegedly called 911 to report the break-in. He told the dispatcher he was not home but had gotten a call from an anonymous person to say someone was in his house. Deputies who responded to the call found Earp's girlfriend at the home, and Earp arrived soon after police did. Deputies said the girlfriend, who had been living in the house, had a legal right to be there. Earp told them he had broken up with her hours earlier and was afraid she would damage his property if she was there alone.
