Kate Thornhill, one of the organizers of Saturday's Floatilla2 event in Suttons Bay, said they have submitted the flotilla to Guinness World Records to get official confirmation that they beat the record of 1,902 kayaks and canoes set in September 2011 by a New York state group, The Detroit News reported Monday. Advertisement "We think we did it," Thornhill said. "Even if a few of the boats don't count because they weren't rafted and were free-floating, we expect we will have more than enough." Thornhill said it could take several weeks to get a response from Guinness. The record requires each of the vessels to be touching another craft that is in turn touching another of the boats for at least 30 seconds. Thornhill said Floatilla2 may be the last of the group's flotilla events if the record is made official.
