'Cronut' burger coming to Canadian National Exhibition

TORONTO, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- The Canadian National Exhibition said the cronut burger, which features a croissant-doughnut hybrid for a bun, will be one of the foods on this year's menu.

The Toronto event, famous for its bizarre food offerings, will feature the maple-bacon jam-topped burger alongside many other food items -- both traditional and bizarre -- at the dozens of on-site vendors working during the Aug. 16-Sept. 2 exhibition, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported Thursday.

Previous headline-making foods featured at the exhibition include deep-fried butter, a cheeseburger wrapped in a doughnut and a BLT sandwich topped with Nutella spread.
