Ticket results from old license plate on backpack

GENOA, Italy, Aug. 8 (UPI) -- An Italian woman's appeal against an expired registration ticket says an automated camera detected a license plate on her son's backpack.

The Italian-language Corriere Mercantile said the woman filed an appeal with local authorities in Genoa after automated sensors picked up the expired registration on an old license plate her son had attached to his backpack as a decoration, ANSA reported Thursday.

The woman said the plate was formerly registered to the scooter she rode until 2007.
