"Am I disappointed?" Werksman said. "They all had fun. They all did something they'd never get to do. It's all good."
Werksman said children from 20 city and private summer camps participated in the event, dubbed "Zumbatomic." However, she said the effort to reach the 1,001 participants was complicated when many camps couldn't secure the use of buses.
"The biggest pitfall that we found was transport," Werksman said. "There was no transport available for some of the groups."
Coral Springs Mayor Vince Boccard was in attendance but decided not to dance.
"I'm too old for the Zumba," he said. "I don't think my joints would work."
