Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe DELMONT, Pa., July 1 (UPI) -- A Pennsylvania man said he is paying $400 to go before a zoning board and plead for his four pet ducks to be allowed to stay at his home. James Kistler of Delmont said he and his wife, Dawn, received a notice May 10 informing him his pet ducks -- Larry, Moe, Curly and Fred -- run afoul of the borough's ordinance regulating domestic pets and he could face a $500-per-day fine if he does not get rid of them, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported Monday. Advertisement Kistler said the letter gave him the option to pay $400 and go before the borough zoning board for an appeal. He said he has decided to plead his case. "What do they hurt?" Kistler asked, referring to his beloved pets. "They're as peaceful as can be. I just want them [borough officials] to leave me alone. "I enjoy watching them and talking to them," Kistler said. "I'm going to see this all the way through." The Tribune-Review said the borough zoning officer, William Heaps, and the zoning hearing board solicitor, Jon Sweeney, did not respond to requests for comment. Advertisement
