DENVER, June 11 (UPI) -- The actor who played Chewbacca in "Star Wars" said Twitter led the Transportation Security Administration to release his light saber cane at Denver's airport.

Peter Mayhew, 69, said he was at Denver International Airport after Denver Comic Con when TSA agents took his cane, made to resemble the light swords from the "Star Wars" films, for further inspection, CNN reported Tuesday.

Mayhew said the cane was returned to him after he complained about the object being taken by agents.

"Magic words to TSA are not 'please' or 'thank you'.. It's 'Twitter'.. cane released to go home," Mayhew tweeted after the cane was returned to him.

The TSA emailed a statement to CNN explaining the incident.

"Because of the unusual weight of the passenger's cane, a security officer alerted a supervisor. Less than five minutes later, the passenger and cane were cleared to travel," the email read.
