MUNICH, Germany, June 2 (UPI) -- A German woman who left her car in a parking lot for nine years managed to get out of paying a more than $90,000 charge, officials said.

The woman will have to pay a fine $9,086, which is much less than the $90,860 she would owe if she had been charged the standard $25.96 a day for the nine years her car was parked in the lot, The Local.de reported Friday.

"The lady isn't insolvent. She has a job and money," Claus Schnell, the managing director of the Bavaria Parkgaragen company that fined the woman, said on why his company waited nine years to issue the fine.

Schnell said such cases are unusual, but "occur from time to time."
