LONDON, May 29 (UPI) -- An Ikea commercial featuring a family violently disposing of garden gnomes has resulted in numerous complaints to Britain's Advertising Standards Authority.

The advertisement, which began airing in Britain in April, features a young family violently warding off an army of gnomes who are apparently upset about changes to the garden decor, The Local.se reported Wednesday.

The Daily Mail reported the advertisement has resulted in 50 complaints to the Advertising Standards Authority.

Peter Wright, marketing manager for Ikea, defended the ad.

"We believe that the advert takes a light-hearted approach," he said. "We can confirm that no gnomes were harmed in the making of the advert, thanks to clever CGI post-production and some brave stunt doubles."
