Police said the man told authorities he was flying his radio-controlled airplane, which had a camera on board, at Sea Side Park in Bridgeport when he lost control of it and the craft crashed near the Public Service Electric & Gas Bridgeport Harbor Generating Station Advertisement He asked a security guard if he could search the grounds for his plane and the guard refused, instead contacting police who brought in FBI agents. The man voluntarily showed authorities the video recorded by the plane on his laptop. The video showed the plane flying over the park for about 10 minutes before crashing to the ground. The man, a Chinese citizen in the United States on a student visa, said he believes wind caused the crash. Police and FBI agents determined the man was telling the truth and he was released with a warning to avoid flying radio-controlled airplanes near the power plant. The airplane was not recovered.
