HERBERT, Saskatchewan, April 25 (UPI) -- A Saskatchewan hospital said more than 100 garter snakes have been discovered inside the facility since February.

The Herbert & District Integrated Health Facility in Herbert said most of the snakes have been found in crawl spaces and the basement but some have managed to make it into public areas of the hospital, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported Thursday.

"There was actually a total of six snakes ... found on the main level of the facility," spokesman Bryce Martin said.

Martin said the snakes have apparently been entering the hospital through a small hole discovered in the basement. He said sticky pads have been placed in the area and they are proving effective at capturing the snakes.

Martin said the snakes are small and pose no danger to humans, but have startled some people.
