Advertisement Asian news site RocketNews24 said the group of about a dozen young people were kicked out of the fast food eatery after ordering $250 worth of fries and dumping them from their cardboard packaging directly onto 16 plastic trays before taking pictures and digging in, The Guardian, Britain, reported Wednesday. "Stop causing trouble, you brats! Get out of here!" a worker reportedly yelled at the group. The "potato party" fad began in Japan when a group of youngsters posted a picture of themselves attempting to down 23 large cartons of fries in October, The Guardian reported. The picture set off a string of escalating online posts featuring kids downing 40 packs of fries and 60 packs of fries. Advertisement Workers place bombs in front of foundry VAUX, France, March 6 (UPI) -- Workers at a troubled French factory said they placed 14 bombs in front of the facility to get the public to take their situation "seriously." Gabriel Gawin, of the French Confederation of Christian Workers union compulsory liquidation, said he and the rest of the 168 workers at the DMI foundry placed the gas cylinders linked to detonators in front of the foundry in Vaux when the business was threatened with closure, Radio France Internationale reported Wednesday. "These days if you are nice, nobody takes any notice of you," said Rosa, a 30-year employee of the foundry. "Until now we have behaved properly but people must take our threat seriously. Some people have reached saturation point." Rosa said the workers are demanding the factory remain open and preserve as many jobs as possible, with $65,000 bonuses for those who are laid off. Man gets high school diploma at age of 106 BEVERLY, Mass., March 6 (UPI) -- A 106-year-old Massachusetts man who dropped out of school in the eighth grade to help support his family was presented with an honorary diploma. Fred Butler was honored Monday at Beverly High School with a special ceremony attended by family and teenage members of the class of 2013 at the school's library, and was presented with an honorary high school diploma, The Boston Globe reported Wednesday. Advertisement "I want to thank everybody who is responsible for this," Butler said. "I never expected to get anything like that. I really appreciate it." Relatives said Butler had to drop out of school in the eighth grade to help support his mother and five siblings, but often talked about how he regretted not finishing school. They said he has always encouraged his family members to do well in school. "He talked about it a lot," said Cathy Butler, a relative who took the lead in helping Butler get his diploma. "He regretted not having his diploma, but he stands for all the values a high school community hopes to represent." Police: Spring breaker peed in patrol car FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla., March 6 (UPI) -- Authorities in Florida said a spring break partier is accused of purposefully urinating in a deputy's patrol car and on the deputy's lunch. The Lee County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded around 1:50 a.m. Monday to a report of spring break revelers smashing bottles at the Pink Shell Resort in Fort Myers Beach. Chris Brennan, 18, one of three people identified as being involved in the incident, was placed in the back of a patrol car for officer safety purposes, the Fort Myers (Fla.) News-Press reported Wednesday. Advertisement The sheriff's office said Brennan was seen thrashing and screaming in the back of the patrol car while the deputy interviewed the other two people. The deputy ordered the man to stop and Brennan allegedly replied, "I will piss in your car." Brennan allegedly urinated through the screen cage of the patrol car onto several of the deputy's personal items, including his cellphone, lunch and multiple pieces of equipment issued to him by the sheriff's office. Brennan was taken to the Lee County jail on a charge of resisting an officer without violence.
