Bears, mountain lion seen in LA suburb

MONROVIA, Calif., Feb. 18 (UPI) -- Residents of Monrovia, Calif., say two bears and a mountain lion have been spotted roaming the area.

Residents said two large brown bears, which experts said may have been a mother and a cub, were spotted wandering the suburb northeast of Los Angeles and are believed to have been behind a few knocked-over trash cans, KTLA-TV, Los Angeles, reported Monday.

A large mountain lion was seen in the area a short time after the bear sightings, locals said.

Authorities said all three of the animals returned to the wilderness a short time after being spotted.

Monrovia is in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains.
