CHESAPEAKE, Va., Dec. 2 (UPI) -- A wheelchair-bound man from Virginia who says he rarely bowled before he was paralyzed from the waist down, has bowled a perfect game.

George Holscher, 48, of Chesapeake, was paralyzed in a car crash when he was 25.

"When my doctor told me I'd never walk again, that was the worst 5 minutes of my life. And that's about as long as I let it last," Holscher said.

Since his accident, Holscher said he started playing a number of sports -- including wheelchair basketball, tennis and billiards -- The (Norfolk) Virginian-Pilot reported.

He stuck with bowling, and when he rolled his perfect game Nov. 26, he became the second person ever to bowl 300 from a wheelchair.

"I know I said I can't feel my knees, but let me tell you, they were weak," Holscher said of how he felt after bowling a 300.

"When you're on a streak like that, the whole house gets quiet," Holscher said. "Everyone else stops bowling. It gets tense."
