LONDON, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- U.S. Olympian Michael Phelps said he agrees with teammate Ryan Lochte that even the world's best swimmers pee in the pool.

Phelps said he and other high-profile swimmers have been known to urinate in the pool, and sees nothing wrong with the action, The Daily Telegraph reported Tuesday.

"I think everybody pees in the pool. It's kind of a normal thing to do for swimmers. When we're in the water for 2 hours, we don't really get out to pee," Phelps said. "Chlorine kills it so it's not bad."

Phelps made his comments in response to those made by Lochte, who told an interview with Ryan Seacrest that professional swimmers "always" urinate in the pool.

"I think there's just something about getting into chlorine water that you just automatically go," Lochte said.

Lochte confessed to urinating in the water while warming up for Olympic races in London.
