SOUTHEND, England, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- An English street cleaner who found an 18-carat Rolex Oyster Daytona watch in a drain turned it over to police after getting a jeweler to assess its value.

The watch's estimated value is 21,000 pounds ($32,000), This Is Total Essex reported. If no one claims it in the next month, it will become the property of the man who found it.

Police said the watch has not been reported missing.

"This was a highly unusual find, and it's hard to imagine how something so valuable has not been reported lost or stolen by its owner," said Police Constable Calley Mackay, a specialist in stolen property in Southend Police. "It is possible, seeing as the drain was near Leigh train station, that the watch was dropped by a commuter."

Mackay said the watch has a serial number so "only honest people need apply" for its return.

Leigh is a coastal parish that has been merged into Southend.
