FORT PIERCE, Fla., Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Police in Florida allege a man burned the inside of a woman's car because she rejected his amorous advances.

Investigators said Domingo Aranda, 55, of Fort Pierce told them he accidentally set the inside of the woman's 2002 Hyundai on fire Friday when his cigarette caused tequila he had spilled in the vehicle to ignite, TCPalm.com reported Wednesday.

Aranda said he was trying to get clothes out of the car at the time.

However, officers said Aranda admitted to threatening to torch the woman's house during five phone calls he made to the victim.

Aranda was charged with second-degree arson and burglary of an unoccupied vehicle.
