The owner of the tractor, Gary Lee Brackett, told police no one had received his permission to drive the tractor, which he valued at $15,000.

Police said Mote's blood-alcohol content was measured at 0.08, the point where police consider a driver impaired.

Mote was taken to the Gaston County Jail on charges of larceny and driving while impaired. His bond was set at $21,000.
