Doctors received 20 percent of the vote overall, getting 20 percent of the men's vote and 26 percent of the women's. Nurses tied with doctors, also receiving votes from 20 percent among male voters.
"Men and women seem to be in agreement that the sexiest professions are professions where people take care of other people," Karin Boo, a love coach with E-kontakt.se, said in a statement.
Thomas Flodin, chairman of the Stockholm Association of Doctors, surmised that the portrayal of doctors and nurses in the media influenced the vote.
"There are a number of popular television shows that perhaps make the profession appear rather glamorous," he told The Local.
Female voters found cooks to have the second sexiest job, with 16 percent of the vote.
"It surprised me that the culinary profession is so popular among women," Boo said. "People often say that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach and apparently the same holds true for women."
