DUBLIN, Ga., June 23 (UPI) -- A Georgia woman said she was happy to receive the high school ring her late husband was searching for on the day she met him in 1961.

Joan Anderson, 67, of Canton said her husband, George, who died in 1987, was searching for the ring at a Dublin swimming pool on the day she met him in June 1961 and he continued to look for the item for two years, the Canton Cherokee Tribune reported Thursday.

Kelvin Foskey of Dublin said his son, Kelvin Jr., 13, recently discovered the ring near the pool and they used a 1960 Dublin High School yearbook to find George Anderson's name. He said they tracked down Joan Anderson with the help of her relatives in Dublin.

The ring was presented to Anderson at a ceremony earlier in the month.

"My husband spent two summers looking for that ring," she said. "We went in early and stayed late every day. He even gridded off the area to make sure he searched everywhere."
