POINT EDWARD, Ontario, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- A Canadian man was sentenced to 60 days in jail for curfew violations that led to him being arrested and missing his own wedding, authorities said.

Joshua Atkinson, 36, was credited for 12 days served in pre-sentence custody and will now serve 48 days after pleading guilty to violating a court-ordered curfew Nov. 2 and Dec. 30, the QMI Agency reported Tuesday.

Prosecutors said Atkinson was first spotted breaking court-imposed curfew at a Point Edward, Ontario, casino Nov. 2 and police were called Dec. 30 when he fell asleep in a taxicab. He was arrested for public intoxication and an outstanding warrant.

Police said the curfew was imposed for charges that were later dropped.

Atkinson missed his wedding while in jail following his Dec. 30 arrest, said his lawyer, Terry Brandon. He said Atkinson plans to proceed with the marriage after he is released.
