BRECON, Wales, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- A pair of 100-year-old sisters in Wales are being recognized as the world's oldest twins by Guinness World Records.

Ena Pugh and Lily Millward, who live near Brecon, Wales, were certified as the world's oldest twins after officials with Guinness World Records examined their birth certificates, the BBC reported Wednesday.

Millward said she and her sister remained young through "laughter and having a joke with each other."

The sisters, who said they still meet for weekly shopping trips on Fridays, took the title from French sisters Raymonde and Lucienne Wattelade, who are 98.

"We think it's encouraging to know that there are older twins and are delighted to pass the record on to them," the French twins said in a statement.
