Old, rusted gun found buried in garden

BREMERTON, Wash., Sept. 20 (UPI) -- Police in Washington state say a woman discovered a rusted handgun buried beneath a flower garden in her front yard.

Bremerton police said the 56-year-old woman called authorities at 3:21 p.m. Sept. 13 and said workers excavating her front yard found the decades-old gun buried deep beneath her mother's old flower garden, the Bremerton Patriot reported Monday.

The woman told police the house has been in her family since 1971 and the gun did not belong to any of her relatives.

Police said the gun, a .38 caliber Arminus Titan Tiger revolver, was rusted shut and a search on the serial number failed to turn up any results.
