Advertisement Langford said he forgot he had the earrings in during Tuesday's practice until he realized one was missing, The Miami Herald reported. The defensive end and his teammates combed the field with their eyes while grounds crews used rakes to see if it was hidden in the turf. However, the earring remained missing, Langford said. Prof: Found Books predate 'world's oldest' DAEGU, South Korea, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- A professor at a South Korean university said he discovered 12 books printed with movable metal type that are 100 years older than the official oldest book. Nam Kwon-heui, a professor at Kyungpook National University in Daegu, said he found 12 books in a Seoul gallery that appear to have been printed at least 138 years prior to "Jikji," a Buddhist tome first printed with movable metal type in 1377, Yonhap news agency reported. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization officially certified "Jikji" in 2001 as the oldest metal-print book in the world. Advertisement Philippines kicks off Christmas season MANILA, Philippines, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Revelers in the Philippines have begun the world's longest Christmas season with the arrival of holiday decorations and other festive displays. Signs of the Philippine Christmas season, which routinely begins Sept. 1 and runs for at least 115 days, often extending beyond Dec. 25, have begun sprouting up, with the Christmas on Display show, a decades-old tradition involving a mannequin play starting in front of the Greenhills Shopping Center in San Juan, ABS-CBN News reported. Manila theme park Enchanted Kingdom said it is preparing to bring out artificial snow for those who catch the Christmas spirit in the tropical country. Stores in the Manila area said they are already selling Christmas decorations including the parol, a Christmas lantern made from paper, bamboo, seashells or fiberglass. Thief's wrong turn lands him in jail FLORENCE, Italy, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- A purse-snatcher's escape went awry Tuesday when he ducked into a building only to realize it was a police station, bemused police officials said. The alleged thief, described as a young Romanian, apparently thought he was running into a post office where he may have intended to blend into the crowd, the Italian news agency ANSA reported. Instead, he looked up to see himself among police officers. Advertisement The man's victims showed up shortly after and the man was arrested. "It was like something out of 'I Soliti Ignoti,'" an onlooker told ANSA, referring to the 1958 Italian comedy starring Marcello Mastroianni in the story of a band of small-time crooks who try to burgle a government-owned pawn shop.
