Analysis names NYC fashion capital

AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- A Texas-based organization said its annual analysis of fashion trends named New York the fashion capital of North America and the world.

The Global Language Monitor said its analysis of the Predictive Quantities Index, a proprietary algorithm tracking frequency, contextual usage and appearance of words and phrases in print and electronic media, named New York the fashion capital of North America, and the No. 1 ranked location in the world, while Hong Kong, ranked second globally, was found to be the fashion capital of Asia.

The globally ranked third city, London, was named the fashion capital of Europe while Sydney, which was No. 7 on the global list, was cited as the fashion hub of Australia and the rest of Oceania.

Meanwhile, Mumbai was named the fashion capital of India, and 28th globally, and Sao Paulo, Brazil, was dubbed the fashion capital of Latin America and ranked 13th overall.
