ESSEX, Ontario, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- An injured puppy found in a roadside box in Essex, Ontario, is healthy and ready for a new home, officials say.

The beagle, named "Crooks," was found on a frigid day in March by a United Parcel Service driver and taken to the Windsor-Essex County Humane Society, BBC News reported Saturday.

The pup couldn't move its legs and a veterinarian at the Essex Animal Hospital donated her time to help in its rehabilitation, the report said.

However, the veterinarian, Dr. Janice Huntingford, determined the "UPS Puppy," as it became known, would need a doggie wheelchair.

One was donated by a Humane Society volunteer and Crooks gets around just fine with the device, Huntingford said.

All he needs now is a loving home.

"He will need a caring home that is willing to help him overcome his disability for years to come, but he will repay that family with lots of love and affection," said Melanie Coulter, the humane society's executive director.
