NEW YORK, May 31 (UPI) -- New York Port Authority officials said they received 24 complaints about toll booth workers during the past 19 months.

Those complaints and the 153 complaints logged with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority for 2008-2009 include a complaint about a toll worker who issued a driver a $120 fine and told the driver the fine could have been avoided by listening to a "lecture," the New York Daily News reported Monday.

The complaints also included a toll booth worker slamming the booth door into the vehicle of a motorist who paid with a $100 bill and a worker who allegedly called a driver who asked for a deferred payment a "stupid idiot."

Officials said 1.1 million motorists drive through city toll booths on a daily basis and 3.4 million are expected during Memorial Day weekend.
