CHICAGO, March 23 (UPI) -- Chicago police said a motorist pulled over for reckless driving was arrested and charged with impersonating a police officer.

Police said Obadiah Davis, 28, was pulled over at about 2:30 p.m. Friday after he nearly struck a police cruiser with his blue Ford Crown Victoria while backing out of a car wash, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Tuesday.

The police report said Davis showed his license to the officer but refused to produce proof of insurance, claiming he did not need it because he was a "police officer."

Davis told the officer he worked for the Cook County sheriff's police but refused to display any police identification. The man told police to call his captain.

An officer called the specified captain and was told Davis was not an officer, but rather an employee of Page Security, a firm owned by the captain.

Davis was charged with impersonating a police officer and issued citations for negligent driving and driving without insurance.
