LOS ANGELES, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- Officials with a Los Angeles school for medical marijuana growers said classes are filled up and waiting lists are becoming long.

Jeff Jones, chancellor of the Los Angeles branch of Oaksterdam University, which has two other locations in the state, said the school teaches students everything about marijuana, including how to raise the plant and how not to run afoul of the law, USA Today reported Tuesday.

"They're paying us to come, and our classes are full," Jones said of his student body.

Oaksterdam Executive Chancellor Dale Sky Clare said about 7,000 people have graduated from classes at California's three locations and the business is now looking toward expanding out of state to cater to other states with medical marijuana laws.

Clare said more than 850 students started classes this semester, with dozens more on waiting lists, and more than 300 people have already registered for next semester.
