NEW YORK, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- A 99-year-old New York man found himself on the ground with an 83-year-old shouting at him in Russian during a dispute about parking, police said.

Steve Pulwers, 99, who lives above a doctor's office across the street from Maimonides Hospital, told police he approached the vehicle of Gersh Gofman, 83, at 2:10 p.m. Monday because he was blocking the driveway and the doctor was attempting to pull in, the New York Post reported Wednesday.

"The doctor honked the horn, one, two, three, four times," Pulwers said. "I say, 'Gentleman, the doctor wants to go into the garage.' He did not answer. He then got out and takes a metal tool and hits me. He knocked me to the ground."

He said Gofman pinned him to the ground with his knees and threatened him in Russian.

"He said he was going to send somebody to cut off my balls," said Pulwers, who noted he had previously argued with Gofman about parking in November.

The doctor called police. Gofman was arrested and charged with assault, menacing and harassment. He was released without bail and is due back in court Feb. 25.
