MILWAUKEE, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- A polar bear who fell into his moat has resisted delicacies strategically placed to lure him back to his lair, say Milwaukee County Zoo keepers.

Zero, an 18-year-old polar bear, fell into the 17-foot-deep moat a week ago but is in good shape, appears comfortable, and shows no desire to return to his former living quarters, said Jan W. Rafert, a zoo curator.

Zero, who was born at the zoo, is having a good time rambling in and around the moat and has yet to be tempted up stairs to his lair by fish, lard and choice meat placed along the route, Rafert said.

Zero, who was chasing one of his toys when he fell into the moat, also was unhurt in a similar fall 15 years ago, Rafert told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in a story published Monday.
