WASHINGTON, Pa., Sept. 23 (UPI) -- An 11-year-old boy has been arrested by Pennsylvania State Police after he allegedly led troopers in Washington County on a car chase, police said.

The boy, whose name was not released due to his age, was charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and fleeing and eluding, after he allegedly stole a car from his foster home Sunday and resisted attempts by police to pull him over, WTAE-TV, Pittsburgh, reported Monday.

The chase weaved on and off Interstate 70 before the young driver struck a police cruiser and careened into a utility pole in Somerset Township.

"I did what you call a PIT (Pursuit Intervention Technique) maneuver, which caused the vehicles to slide sideways," said Trooper Brian Bell.

The 11-year-old was treated for minor injuries at Washington Hospital and later taken to the county's juvenile probation office.
