Shuttle rollout marred by typo

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla., July 13 (UPI) -- When NASA rolled out the Endeavour to the launch pad this week in Florida, a sign encouraging the next mission misspelled the space shuttle's name.

The sign "Go Endeavor" was correct American English, WKMG-TV in Orlando reported. But the Endeavour was named after the ship Capt. James Cook used to explore the Pacific Ocean in the 18th century.

The large sign was hung from a fence in front of the shuttle after the Endeavour was rolled into place on Wednesday.

When someone spotted the mistake at Pad 39A at the Kennedy Space Center, NASA quickly replaced the sign and put up a photo of the correct version on its Web site.

Endeavour is scheduled to launch Aug. 7. Mission STS-118 to the International Space Station is NASA's second of the year and Endeavour's first in almost two years.
