David Williams, 25, was banned from driving for 12 months after his car was seized and the vegetable oil was discovered, icWales reported. Advertisement Swansea Crown Court heard about the oil that was found in the Rover's brake fluid after it was seized. Police also uncovered "numerous defects" in the car, including missing door handles and two defective tires. Williams' attorney, Craig Jones, told the court his client was not trying to "cut corners" for commercial reasons. Jones insisted Williams had acted "out of ignorance and stupidity." "He is someone with an interest in motorcars," said Jones. "But, as this incident demonstrates, he is someone whose interest exceeds his knowledge."
