BUFFALO, N.Y., Nov. 26 (UPI) -- A Buffalo, N.Y., couple say a bronze statue stolen from their backyard meant much more to them than its $4,000 value.

The statue missing from Dr. Marilyn and Kenneth Barker's garden honored of their daughter, Dara, who died of leukemia 13 years ago at age 14, the Buffalo News said Saturday.

"I'm just so hurt and angry," said Dr. Marilyn Barker, a pediatrician, who discovered the statue gone. "That was the pride of my garden ... She was the most gorgeous thing. I just adored her."

The couple normally bring the statue of a woman with arms upraised toward the sky they call "The Lady of the Garden," into their home after Halloween to protect it from the winter weather.

The Barkers have offered a $500 reward, no questions asked, for the statue's return.
