EDMONTON, Alberta, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Three people were recovering from surgery Monday after being stabbed at a wedding party that turned into a brawl involving 75 people in Edmonton, Alberta.

Detective Bill Clark told the Edmonton Sun that early Sunday morning several uninvited guests arrived at the reception at a community hall, not to crash the party, but because they were looking for one of the stabbing victims.

A black SUV hit one man, knocking him to the ground. He was then jumped and stabbed, Clark said. Then the free-for-all erupted,

Johnny Sakulich, who lives across the street from the hall, said he's never seen a brawl like it.

"I've seen a lot of nasty fights with a lot of people, but there must have been 75 to 80 people out there," he said.

He said women were screaming and one woman was hitting someone with her shoe.

Police later found an abandoned SUV, and said they had detained two men, a juvenile and an adult who are "very well-known to police," whom they described as uncooperative.
